A Homemade Breakfast, Slow-Cooked from the County Up

Every morning at Lil Wayne B&B begins the way it has for three generations — with cast-iron skillets, eggs gathered before sun-up, and biscuits pulled from a wood oven at 7:15 sharp. Pull up a chair, pour a second cup, and stay a while.

The Morning Table

A rotating menu rooted in the season

Our kitchen runs on what's in the garden, on the hens, and at the creamery that week. The plates below rotate with the calendar — but the skillets are always warm. Let us know at booking about allergies, and we'll quietly rework your plate.

Wayne's Cast-Iron Skillet

$16

Two country eggs over rosemary potatoes, smoked pork belly, caramelized sweet onion, and aged sharp cheddar — all crisped together in a single iron skillet, served with a wedge of jalapeño cornbread.

House FavoriteContains Pork

Cathleen's Buttermilk Stack

$14

Three hand-whisked buttermilk pancakes layered with brown-butter peaches, a swirl of sorghum molasses, and fresh-churned butter from the dairy at Pine Hollow. Light, custardy, never doughy.

Vegetarian

Smoked Trout & Soft Egg

$17

House-cold-smoked rainbow trout from Cedar Creek, a 6-minute egg, lemon-dressed arugula, capers, and sourdough toast soldiers. A lighter plate that still feels like a country kitchen.

Pescatarian

Garden Frittata

$13

Open-faced omelet with whatever the kitchen garden gave us that morning — last week, sungold tomatoes, basil, summer squash, and herbed goat cheese from Twin Pines.

Gluten-FreeVegetarian

Steward's Oat Bowl

$11

Slow-cooked steel-cut oats with stewed apples, toasted pecans, wildflower honey, and a pour of cream. The kind of bowl you finish with a spoon scrape and a long pause.

Vegan Option

The County Biscuit

$9

A single tall buttermilk biscuit, split and ladled with red-eye gravy, a folded egg, and shaved country ham. Served with pepper jelly on the side. Add a second biscuit for $3.

The Larder

From neighbors we know by first name

Half the ingredients on your plate were picked, poured, or milled within a half-hour drive of our kitchen. We've built a small network of growers and makers we trust — some we've bought from for fifteen years, some we just met at the Saturday market.

Knowing the farmer means knowing the food. It means we can tell you which pasture the butter came from, and it means the eggs were laid Tuesday.

  • Mossbrook Farm — eggs, herbs, honeySix miles east. Sarah and Eli deliver Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Pine Hollow Creamery — butter, cream, goat cheeseEighteen miles north. A fifth-generation operation.
  • Old Granary Mill — flour, grits, cornmealStone-ground weekly from heritage wheat grown in the valley.
  • Cedar Creek Smokehouse — trout, pork belly, hamSmoked low over apple wood, three miles from the front door.
Eat Well, Your Way

Thoughtful options for how you eat

Country cooking has always been flexible. Tell us what you need at booking — most of our plates can be adjusted, and a few of them were built for it from the start.

Gluten-Free

Biscuits, pancakes, and toast all have GF swaps that don't feel like a compromise. The frittata and trout plates are naturally gluten-free.

Vegan & Plant-Based

The Steward's Oat Bowl, a chickpea-flour frittata, and seasonal vegetable hash keep our plant-based guests very well fed.

Dairy-Free

Oat and almond milk always on hand. We use olive oil or ghee in place of butter, and our smoked trout plate travels well without cream.

Allergies & Intolerances

Nuts, soy, eggs, shellfish — call ahead or note it in your reservation. We label every plate at pass and the kitchen keeps a dedicated prep board.

The Hour

How a Lil Wayne morning unfolds

Breakfast isn't a service window here — it's the part of the stay people remember longest. The pace is on purpose.

01

The slow pour

Guests drift in around 7:30. Coffee is already on the table — a local roaster, a heavy ceramic mug, and a small carafe to yourself. No one rushes you.

02

Order, or don't

The signature skillet is on the table by default. If you'd rather pick from the menu — the trout, the biscuits, the oat bowl — Cathleen will bring it over without ceremony.

03

Stay for seconds

Refills on coffee, pancakes, and bacon are simply part of the morning. The kitchen keeps cooking until the last guest sets down their napkin.

Guest note on breakfast

We came for two nights and stayed for five — mostly because I couldn't bear to leave that breakfast table. The skillet, the biscuits, the way Cathleen remembered everyone's name by the second morning. It felt like staying with family who happen to be brilliant cooks.
